I remember the day I started my online biz
April 14, 2013
I bought into an IDEA to build an online business starting with a blog. That was #1 key…. to get my blog up and running.
Fast forward a few years, as I continued to build my network, I started to run into people who said blogging doesn’t work and realized that blogging was starting to fall away from the online business model.
That got me curious and I had to know why.
This is what I found out.
One of the top reasons people told me that they don’t need a blog is because they have social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat.
Okay I get that. Let’s think about this…
Facebook hates it when you leave Facebook. So they find all possible ways to block your links, put you in jail, or fuck up your algorithm where you’re left feeling like you did back in grade school dodge ball – the last one picked.
YouTube, don’t get me wrong, is the very platform I built my business on. But it was my website that I directed people into my funnel (which is INCLUDED with my blog site – no extra cost) and they bought my products.
Instagram is great but only one link at a time is available per profile. Where do you send them? (not to mention, 98% of messages I send to IG accounts go unanswered. Why? I have no idea. Not very good customer service.)
Snapchat… well… is to talk to people about your business, and give an amazing CTA, and tell people to take a screenshot of the next screen where you check 3 times to make sure you typed in the url correctly, put some blue squiggles behind the text – then check the url ONE more time JUST in case and PRAY TO GOD that your viewers don’t spell it wrong…
Here’s what people REALLY do. They Google you.
Don’t get me wrong. Am I saying you have to delete any of your social media accounts? HEAVENS NO. By all means USE all of those social media platforms!
All I’m saying is that if you think blogging is a waste of time, and you’re not doing it, that could be that one missing link in your business. (missing link. damn right pun intended)
Google now processes over 40,000 search queries every second on average.
I get leads coming in DAILY because people are finding me on Google because I learned the power of keywords.
Here’s what I’m saying: I think that whatever idea you have swirling around in your head, you need to give it more fire.
But more than that, you need to give yourself fire.
Because the minute you start taking your own ideas seriously? The world will, too.
And remember: You don’t need to be serious to be taken seriously.
You just need to show up
…EVERYWHERE (insert appropriate evil scheming laugh)
Because for those who still think blogging is a waste of time, I’m sitting here writing a new blog (but wait, I have this new thought that popped in my head so I better put THAT in another blog …yes I have ADHD) and people are still finding me and opting into my stuff. Daily.
