I’m providing information that pertains to your current method of marketing, and, perhaps, introducing (or re-introducing) other ones.
So for example, if you’re not into Twitter (like me) then you ignore the Twitter training. I offer it to those who are.
The point of this blog post is to show you the 5 Steps I took to fire my boss in 2017. It took me four years to master these 5 so don’t feel like you’re expected to do it all at once.
As one of my mentors would say, “One and done” meaning: master one skill first, then move on to the next.

My Humble Beginnings
I worked 31 jobs in 17 years, trying to find my place to make a difference. I never went to college so all of those jobs were entry-level.
Then I was introduced to the online world in early 2013.
The only thing I knew what to do online was to my resume via email.
I wasn’t on any social media sites. I didn’t even own a smartphone or a laptop.
Fast forward a few years, absorbing lots of new information, attending lots of events and seminars, connecting with important people who help teach me personal skills and leadership.
2015 is when I FINALLY got my first smartphone.
In 2017, I fired my boss and went full-time RVing around the US.
I’m now a top leader in two companies, hosting wake up calls, masterminds, won first place in an affiliate contest, and getting invited for interviews.
Chances are, you are here because you saw my YouTube Video, or found me searching on Google on “how can I fire my boss?”
Here’s how I did it in these 5 important key steps, and how to tie them all together to create a profitable online business to eventually fire YOUR boss!
…if that’s what you want.
I know several people who make a good income while working their day job.
Either way, and without further ado, here are those 5 Steps.
STEP 1: BLOGGING
Wait, but can you actually make money blogging? Actually, no. You don’t make money blogging. You make money by what you offer on your blog.
Blogging has been the foundation that started my online business.
Selling products on your blog is one of the absolute best ways to turn your loyal audience into a consistent revenue stream.
In fact, many of my followers set out to start their blogs specifically for the purpose of marketing and selling a product or service.
And making money on your blog is as simple as offering products that you will be using yourself while building your skillsets.
Whether you have a brand new blog or have already been blogging for years, you might be surprised at the revenue potential of selling products on your blog.
This just might shine a light on the money-making potential of using your blog to sell products.
For example, I have a Page on my blog called ‘Resources‘ where I give a list of various products that I am affiliated with (and some I am not).
Many of them are books and audios that I have read.
Amazon offers a simple referral program that allows you to refer your readers to their products in exchange for a percentage of what your readers spend. Their program is called Amazon Associates.
I also offer training, programs, and systems where I get a kickback as an affiliate, such as this blogging platform you’re reading this post on.
Pointing your readers towards products being offered somewhere else can be extremely lucrative.
Typically the company selling the products that you are affiliated with will pay you a commission for referring the customer to them.
Best of all, you do not have to worry about taking on any of the risks in terms of holding the products.
Having a blog is an important step to freedom.
STEP 2: VIDEO MARKETING
Video is no longer something the exception, it’s become the norm.
YouTube currently has 1.5 billion monthly active users who are watching content on their site.
And Facebook Video is growing at a rapid rate.
Video marketing will help you capitalize on the current consumer trends that show users watching more online video content than ever before.
Facebook Lives, to me, is the perfect way to connect and have conversations with the audience you already have.
Whereas YouTube is where people go to find YOU.
But this doesn’t mean you can just upload any video and expect your sales numbers to rise.
Videos need to have a specific purpose and goal in mind, and only certain styles of video will produce better sales.
Start by establishing yourself as a thought leader. Upload content often on specific topics in your industry, being sure to curate lists for fans.
This will show that you have an in-depth knowledge on various topics and that you provide free value.
Next, teach people how to use your product (i.e. tutorials) and educate potential customers on how they can’t live without your product.
Use social proof to increase your trust and credibility among non-brand-aware viewers, too. Social proof can be the spark that your how-to content needs to drive sales.
STEP 3: EMAIL MARKETING
Wouldn’t it be easier if someone knew what you needed and had it all waiting for you at the register?
Now think about your readers. They’re all over the internet.
They’re scanning websites, reading blogs, ordering toilet paper online, watching Facebook videos–and then they land on your site.
They head to your shop tab and scroll through your beautifully taught courses, well-researched eBooks, and dozens of carefully designed printables.
But without any direction or sales assistance, they feel that same overwhelm as you did at the wholesale store.
Everything looks amazing, but it’s too much for their over-internet minds to handle.
And instead of taking the time to read through your product descriptions to find what they need, your reader closes the tab and moves back to an easy-to-scan social media app.
So how can you fix this?
How can you make all your amazing products more marketable and less intimidating?
How can you make it easier for your readers to see their benefits and then in turn, easier to click that Buy Now button.
It’s simple. Email marketing.
No eye rolls, please. Email marketing can be huge for selling products online.
The problem is that most online marketers are either doing it wrong or they’re just not doing it all.
The biggest mistake I made was not starting the first 2 years I started online.
But what about ManyChat? It’s the same concept as email marketing only it’s using a Facebook Business Page and messaging a sequence of information to those who subscribe.
ManyChat is great but you don’t own Facebook. You own your email list.
Do both if you’d like but definitely build an email list. Just make sure you don’t end up being the one people unsubscribe from by not spamming your list.

STEP 4: SOCIAL MEDIA
I joined Facebook on April 20, 2013, and it has been my #1 income-generating social media platform using just my Profile (no paid ads).
Whatever platform you chose, selling on social media is not a new concept.
But how people absorb the content is always changing.
No longer are people impressed by fancy cars, big mansions, and girls sitting on top of a big rock next to the ocean holding a smartphone.
We want REAL and RAW.
Here’s the thing.
You must give before you take. Become known as a value-provider first. Gain the trust of your audience one post at a time.
Take selfies. Post jokes. Share some business tips. Did you bake homemade bread? Post that! Share useful content. Answer their questions. Interact with them. SERVE THEM.
They will get to know you, fall in love with you, then buy from you.

STEP 5: LEVERAGE
Becoming an affiliate for sites and tools you already use will add up fast when you simply learn how to use them, offer them to those who are going to buy it anyway (it might as well be from you!) to build up that monthly residual income to eventually firing your boss!

Do you have to go in order in the steps I provided? No. I gave them in the exact order of process I went through.
The good news is, you don’t have to wait to get started. You can implement these all right away or take them one at a time.
But eventually, as you continue to gain the skillsets, you will have these tools and systems to help you last a lifetime of freedom.
And it all starts with these 5 steps I have laid out for you in this one blog post.
In order to do a great job marketing, selling, launching, promoting, you have to put yourself on display; tell the world how great you are; brag about this thing you’ve made; be willing to make a promise that, yes, this is worth it.
This is exceedingly more difficult when you aren’t sure you even believe in the value you offer.
And that’s precisely why my #1 tip for selling yourself has nothing to do with the way you sell, and everything to do with WHAT you sell.
You must first fall in love with your own product before you can ever hope to make other people.
Because only when you believe it’s brilliant, can you sell it as such.
Anything less would be fraud, and that’s exactly why, I suspect, so many people feel like one.
